What has been your main inspiration in media
I'm a self confessed TV addict I grew up watching absolutey everything on the box, particularly the news and knew from an alarmingly young age that this was the field I wanted to work in. I was already a journalism nerd by the age of 13 and can remember a career counselling session, where rather than educate me, I ended up teaching the hapless advisor a thing or two about how to get into the profession! And the more people told me I'd stand little or no chance of getting into the industry as it was so competitive, the more determined I was to prove them wrong.
Who was your childhood media hero?
Like many a black journalist before me, I too have worshipped at the sacred reports of Sir Trevor McDonald and Moira Stuart. But it was two lesser known broadcasters that got my journalistic juices flowing. Gargy Patel and Jacqui Harper of the BBC's regional London programme Newsroom South East were part of my daily TV diet and inspired my passion for local news.
What has been your most exciting time in media so far in your career?
My time at ITN On has included a number of pinch myself moments. Recent highlights include: Being invited to interview and attend an exclusive gig with the mother of all divas, Chaka Khan.
Reporting on the Miami Vice premiere and making it on to national news.
And getting 10 minutes in a hotel room with the distractingly gorgeous Gary Dourdan of CSI fame.
If you could do any job in media, what would it be?
While some yern to report from a war zone or other death defying situation, I've always hankered after the far safer confines of local news. My dream job would therefore be as an anchor or correspondent for a London news programme.
If you didn't get into media what career would of you been in today?
I'd probably be desperately trying to make ends meet as a freelance makeup artist, or struggling as an overworked, overtired and underpaid teacher. (Everyone in my family is a teacher!)
