Community Action Award closes - who

The prestigious Creme of Nature Community Action Award closed its doors on 28th February and with the stakes as high as £10,000, the number of entrants has exceeded expectation.

Applications have flooded in from all over the country, representing a number of different groups, organisations and initiatives and reflecting a diverse and dynamic community that’s full of ambition.

Set up to give something back to the community that has supported one of the most well-known hair brands for the past 30 years, the Creme of Nature Community Action Award is now in its third year, previously awarding the prize money to Be Totally You, a hair training salon in Bromley, and The Shern Hall Methodist Youth Steel Band, who were able to buy a complete set of their own pans as a result of winning the prize.

Popular actress and member of this year’s judging panel, Doña Croll, said “The standard of entries has been very high, and it’s wonderful to hear about people’s ideas and aspirations – and to know that this year, we can help make five of those dreams come true.”

Previous years have seen a top prize of £10,000 but in 2010, four runners-up will also receive £1000 towards their project.

With the judges drawing up a shortlist of five, it’s over to the community to decide who deserves first place. So log on to and get voting. It’s in your hands.
