Akoben Awards Launches With What I Can Do To Make A Positive Difference Competition

Akoben Awards wants individuals to highlight what they are doing to make a positive difference in their communities.

Young people and adults are encouraged to enter Akoben Awards’ MAKE A DIFFERENCE London Week of Peace competition entitled What I Can Do To Make A Positive Difference by emailing editor@britishblackmusic.com, not later than Thursday September 18 2008, and telling us in not more that 200 words, what you are doing or can do to make a difference in your community, be it in terms of peace, safety, or good neighbourliness.

All those who enter and attend the free, edu-tainment event at Mission Dine Club Centre on September 20 will receive a non-parental advisory CD, and there will be prizes for the top entries.

The competition is a prelude to an edu-tainment and discussion event on Saturday September 20, 3-7pm, where in addition to discussions on exploring ways of making our communities safer, there will be musical performances, open mic for performances and poetry, prizes, free refreshments, and giveaways.

Venue: Mission Dine Club Centre, Fry Road, Harlesden NW10 4BZ. Venue no: 020 8965 5797.
