UK, April 2007: Western Union, a leading international provider of money transfer services, aptly reflected and lived up to its “More than Money” theme at the Asian Lifestyle Show which took place on 30th, 31st March and 1st April 2007 at the NEC, Birmingham. Having recently launched an incredible and reduced £4.90 price plan to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal for the Western Union’s Next Day service*, Western Union’s new price plan offers customers an extra jingle in their pockets when they send money back home. In addition to providing choice and convenience when sending money home to loved ones, customers can do so much more with the surplus cash they save, helping families to stay connected wherever they are.

The underlying principle of Western Union’s service is that they go well beyond the extra mile for their customers by offering, not only the most competitive rate of money transfer, but also the opportunity for people to re-connect with loved ones back home, and to re-establish emotional ties. A key aim is to establish their own bond with clients, just as they facilitate the firming of bonds between peoples in distant proximities.

The Asian Lifestyle Show is hailed as one of the biggest celebrations of Asian culture outside of India and the event featured fashion, beauty, music, food, entertainment and a host of A-List Bollywood stars and music artists. Once again, Western Union proudly earned some celebrity status by being the official sponsor of the ‘Bollywood Stage’.

At this year’s show Western Union created the More Than Money Bus. The More Than Money Bus was a yellow, interactive, double-decker bus that enabled onlookers to make free phone calls to any country in South Asia. Visitors to the bus were also given high quality backpacks with bags of chocolate coins so they too experienced an extra jingle in their pockets. Also at the show, upcoming Asian magician Dynamo entertained audiences with his £4.90 Coin Disappearing Tricks and visitors also had the chance to showcase their own magic tricks.

Delighted winners of the special Western Union Asian Lifestyle Show Competition won free passes to the show and the chance to jump the queue at the Western Union Bollywood Stage to meet heartthrob Fardeen Khan. Commenting on her experience, lucky winner Daveeta Mudhar from Battersea, said: “When I walked into the Asian Lifestyle Show on Sunday, I was excited to see this vibrant yellow bus beside the Western Union Bollywood stage. They are so much more than simply a money transfer company, as reflected in the hospitality and affection they showed to all their visitors.”
