The decision to join MSDUK reflects the company’s commitment to developing diversity across its UK business.
Explains Scott Hancock, Director, Procurement for Marriott Hotels: “Marriott was the first lodging company to implement a formal supplier diversity effort, and has been involved with the American equivalent of MSDUK, the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), for some time. Our decision to join MSDUK here in the UK represents the natural evolution of our worldwide diversity programme.
“When we began looking at further developing our supplier diversity programme, we approached Mayank Shah and his team at MSDUK and were impressed with what we found.”
Continues Scott: “MSDUK has a adopted a creative strategy towards linking leading private sector corporations with ethnic minority-owned businesses. We feel that the organisation has a lot to offer Marriott in the way of partnering opportunities and enabling us to promote supplier diversity within our UK operation.
“In turn, I am confident that Marriott can play a key role in supporting MSDUK and establishing relationships with minority suppliers who can benefit our business in the short- and long-term.”
Comments Mayank Shah, business development director for MSDUK: “I’m delighted that Marriott Hotels have chosen to join MSDUK and share in the successes that our corporate members and suppliers alike are gaining from their membership.
“I am certain that Scott and his team will play key role in the organisation and we welcome their contribution to drive MSDUK forward in terms of promoting supplier diversity in the hospitality industry. I know a number of our suppliers are keen to meet with representatives from Marriott Hotels and I look forward to welcoming them at our next ‘Meet the Buyer’ event on 13th September.”
