A host of national and international businesses converged on the capital for the event which is designed to give ethnic minority suppliers the opportunity to talk face-to-face with corporate buyers boasting household names.
Among the corporate buyers were representatives from Dell, Exxon Mobil, JP Morgan, Marriott, CISCO, Merrill Lynch, Capital One, Lehman, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Pfizer, HP and Computacenter.
“The response from both ethnic minority businesses and corporate buyers to ‘Meet The Buyer’ events is always good, but this time it was exceptional,” said Mayank.
“The guest list was almost like a who’s who of ethnic and corporate businesses, all coming together with one common purpose – to talk and exchange ideas both in open forums and on a more private one-to-one basis.
“The feedback from those attending even at this stage has confirmed what we thought on the day – that events such as this are worth their weight in gold to companies on both sides of the supply chain.”
MSDUK’s specific aim is to develop procurement opportunities between ‘corporate Britain’ and ethnic minority companies across the UK.
“Events such as ‘Meet The Buyer’ are completely unique,” said Kapil Thakrar of Twickenham-based office, design and print suppliers Star Direct. “Where else can you sit down on a one-to-one basis with some of the best known and most successful corporate names in business? The networking opportunities alone make attending an absolute must for ethnic minority businesses of all sizes.”
“It really is an amazing and totally worthwhile concept,” added fellow attendee Shirley Cooper, Procurement and Supply Chain Director of Computacenter. “The atmosphere is completely relaxed and informal unlike so many other procurement gatherings. I can totally see why the feedback has been as positive as it’s been.”
