Angliya is official Media Partner of Russia-Britain Victory Day Celebration.

Angliya, Britain’s biggest Russian newspaper, will be the official Media Partner of Russia-Britain Victory Day Celebration to commemorate the Britain-Russia Alliance in the Arctic Convoys 1941-1945. This joint effort of international business community to celebrate this unique historical event will take place in the form of ceremony onboard HMS Belfast, London, on Saturday 9 May 2009.

Russian and British veterans will be joined by HRH The Duke of Kent, the Ambassador of Russia in Britain, Yuri Fedotov and guests, to commemorate the bravery and heroism of those, who were taking provisions to Murmansk and Archangel during those dark days of our history.

The Royal Signals Band will perform military music during the event, ending with the last post, which will be followed by the minute’s silence. The Russian and British anthems are to follow by the HMS Belfast 4-inch guns salute.

The organiser, Eugene Kasevin, has publicly stated that “such joint effort of Great Britain and Russia to celebrate their historical unity during the dark days of Wold War Two highlighted once again the strong cultural ties between the two great nations”.

The event on 9th May 2009 will start at 15.00. After the ceremony, the party will move on to a touring boat, which will take the veterans and guests on a Thames cruise.
