The online website went live on August 4th with a range of news stories, interviews and features.
The publication, which is published by Urban Media, has been serving the Midlands region for the past four years and editor Zakia Yousaf is hoping its online service will further cement the newspaper’s position as the leading Asian news portal across the Midlands.
She said: “I am confident the new Asian Today website will further stake our position as the leading Asian newspaper in the Midlands. The internet is a great portal for accessing up to the minute news and the website will allow readers old and new to access current and back news items from any part of the country”.
She added it was important for readers to offer opinions on what they wanted to see in the paper saying “The Asian Today really does indicate that this is a paper for the readers. This is a great way for the Asian community across the UK to get involved in the publication as well as reading about the issues that are affecting the Asian community across the Midlands.
“We hope those who visit the site will get in touch to give their views on the site and suggest ways in which we can improve on what we offer to the Asian community.
“It will also create a great platform for advertisers both from the Midlands and nationally to engage with a wider customer base.”
The website will also be updated daily.
Over the past four years, the newspaper has become the biggest free Asian newspaper in the Midlands region with a wide distribution network that covers all Asian areas across the region.
From the very first issue which had a team of only three people, the newspaper has grown into a larger and dedicated team reporting on the issues affecting the South Asian community across the Midlands today.
Urban Media also run DesiXpress a former weekly publication which will be shortly re-launching as an online Asian entertainment website.
