The national showbiz magazine’s new style was devised following months of research and testing the impact of previous issues of the publication on its key readership.
Following the input received from readers, a new look and ‘feel’ was created, bringing in new livelier features more suited to a younger audience, with features creating less of a positive feedback being removed. Ikonz magazine has also invested more into ensuring readers are provided with current and high quality images, more interviews with ‘A-list’ personalities, exclusive photo shoots for the magazine, additional special features and an increase in the number of pages dedicated to bite size news and ‘gossip’. The number of editorial staff and contributors has also been increased and, due to high demand, the magazine team is now taking on work placement applicants.
The magazine also aims to now pursue a new entertainment ethos largely encompassing a more equally diverse range of content. British Asian and Bollywood related content remains, with an increase in urban and mainstream content; ensuring maximum appeal amongst the 18-35 demographic, without compromising the interests of readers interested in ethnic and urban related content and features.
Ikonz has branched out, forging relationships with major PR companies and artist agencies, allowing for access to events and personalities to ensure the most recent and relevant coverage for readers. The publication is also cementing positive relationships with fellow entertainment and ethnic publications, to ensure solidarity across various media outlets, all unique in their own way. This will also encourage the general public to read a greater variety of magazines, and educate them on the vast array of titles available to their particular taste.
Reena Combo, editor of Ikonz, said: “Ikonz magazine is and has always been about putting our readers first. There has been a gap in the market and we’ve successfully filled that gap. We are one of many ethnic-orientated publications in Britain, all providing their own brand of first class journalism and content. We celebrate this and consider ourselves to be privileged to be a part of that wider family; and this is why we are supporting Magazine Week.”
To further acknowledge Magazine Week, Ikonz magazine is offering free annual subscriptions to the first 20 people to register interest on the website between 17th and 23rd September. This offer will also be promoted on related new media outlets.
