Amanda Hussain launches new Breakfast Show on BBC Asian Network

Amanda Hussain’s Weekend Breakfast Show launches this Saturday (15 July) on the BBC Asian Network, offering a fresh take on the week’s news, music, sport and gossip to strengthen the BBC Asian Network’s mainstream appeal.

Amanda is already familiar to BBC Asian Network listeners, having guest presented across the station since its launch. Her recent television and radio career includes presenting and reporting on BBC News and hosting her own shows on GLR/BBC London Radio. Her distinctively husky voice is also widely used to front documentaries and national TV and radio advertising campaigns.

New features include:

Bitch Hollywood/Bitch Bollywood, offering the inside track on showbiz gossip from Los Angeles and Mumbai

How Hot am I gives listeners the opportunity to put themselves forward for romantic scrutiny

Ask the Family tests listeners’ knowledge of their own siblings or parents in explosive and hilarious ways

Amanda started her broadcasting career presenting the BBC2 series Network East and her broad interview experience has seen her face political figures and A-list movie stars alike – from David Cameron to Tom Cruise, Salman Rushdie to Madonna.

Amanda Hussain says, “I’ve been working in TV for some time now and I’ve missed the excitement and freedom of live radio. It’s an important step for BBC Asian Network to be reaching out to wider audiences and it’s great to be part of that… And I can’t wait to wake up with lots of new people who don’t know me yet!”

She starts her new slot in July, following a revised BBC Asian Network weekend schedule.

You can listen live to The BBC Asian Network via DAB radio, online at and MW frequency in the Midlands and via digital cable on channels Sky Digital 869, Telewest & Broadband 912, NTL 867 and Freeview 709.
