Don Valley Stadium is handing out free day passes to local people and businesses in Attercliffe throughout Ramadan – the Islamic month of fasting – and also during Eid, which symbolises the breaking of the fasting period.
Visitors can use a range of facilities at the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) stadium including a fully equipped fitness suite, extensive free weights area, all weather running track and eight lane indoor track.
Ramadan is the most important month in the Islamic calendar. For over 1 billion Muslims around the world, it is a time for inner reflection, devotion to Allah and self-control as they fast each day.
Eid is the breaking of the fasting period and is a celebration of not only the end of fasting, but also thank Allah for the help and strength throughout the previous month to help them practice self-control.
Don Valley’s Jabar Yaqub said: “Ramadan is a time of reflection and we hope this fitness offer will encourage people to think about the importance of healthy living.
“Don Valley is an integral part of the local community and we are keen to make exercise accessible so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.”
Throughout the fasting period, which runs from September 13 until the middle of October, Don Valley Stadium will also be running women-only sessions, hosting induction meetings and handing out nutritional guides.
