Viva Italia

Viva Italia

The Viva Italia Show – enjoy the magic of Italy with over 30 free talks and tastings.

Following the resounding success of the first show last year, Viva Italia returns to London from 22 – 24 September 2006 at the National Hall, Olympia, once again offering visitors the opportunity to escape to this beautiful Mediterranean country. This year’s show will be hosting five theatres, each bringing a slice of Italian life to autumnal London.

The travel, tourism and property forums, sponsored by ALITALIA, I Grandi Viaggi, Italia! Magazine, Homes Overseas and Real Estate TV, will be hosted by Martin Roberts from ITV’s “Wish You Were Here” and BBC’s “Homes under the Hammer”. The forums will be presenting and discussing key issues for buying in Italy, how to make the rental market work, relocation issues and how to set up a business in Italy. For those looking for an insight into the travel and tourism aspects of Italy there will be talks on Discovering Italy with I Grandi Viaggi, the Italian Tourist Board and Paul Pettengale, editor of Italia! Magazine, who will also be reminiscing on his food and art travels. Always popular at Blendon Communications events, overseas property auction specialists Direct Auctions will also be presenting live property auctions that will be taking place over the weekend.

La Cantina – the wine area – will be celebrating the renown of Italy’s fine wines with over 30 producers and distributors. There will be over 20 wine seminars, talks and tasting sessions on offer, held under the expert supervision of Livio Italiani, Head of the Italian Association of Sommeliers in the UK and General Manager of Marco Pierre White’s Luciano Restaurant. Livio, along with renowned Wine Master Charles Metcalfe, the UK’s leading wine expert, will give visitors the opportunity to learn about the basics of Italian wine, native grape varieties, selecting wines to accompany food and what to look for in a wine – with plenty of tasting opportunities.

The Lagostina sponsored La Cucina Caldesi – the cookery theatre – will be presenting and sampling traditional Italian dishes hosted by Giancarlo and Katie Caldesi, stars of the popular BBC 2 series- Return to Tuscany – which is back on the small screen in September. On stage they will be presenting starters, new ways with pasta, vegetarian ideas, traditional mains and scrummy desserts. There will also be appearances from a number of popular chefs and for cooking enthusiasts there will be demonstrations on “mozzarella” making. La Cucina sponsors, Lagostina, are the ultimate in Italian cookware, the ‘Ferrari of stewpots’.

IL Palco – the main stage – sponsored by FIAT – will provide an interesting mix of Live Italian performances. Why not start the day at the show with an Italian language lesson, followed by an Italian theatre performance and then be entertained with fashion shows for the family – including the new season’s range from Bimbo.
Opera singer Juliette Pochin, who has worked with Julian Lloyd Webber and Sir Elton John as well as writing and producing Katherine Jenkins’ gold-selling album, Premiere, has now released her own album, ‘Venezia’, and will be performing daily, along with singers from the Sferisterio Opera Festival and the “Fondazione Pro Musica & Arte Sacra”. The theatre performances staged by STUDIO III of Eduardo De Filippo’s ‘Filumena Marturano’ will be taking place every afternoon, along with folkloristic events brought by Regions of Italy,

L’ Angolo Della Cultura, coordinated by the Italian Cultural Institute, will host book signings, art lectures by Charles Harris, language lessons and a selection of trailers from the latest Italian films in association with the Italian Film Festival in the UK.

There will also be a fantastic selection of dining venues – chic Obika, which has outlets in London’s Selfridges together with Milan, Rome and New York, will be serving their signature mozzarella dishes together with their famous light and utterly delicious classic ‘antipasti.’ For something more substantial the Giancarlo Caldesi hosted restaurant – La Cucina Caldesi – will be serving up a mouth-watering selection of their Tuscan signature dishes. While the ice cream shop – the “Progetto Tiramisu” will be the biggest and the slickest in town, offering a host of traditional flavours and delicious, freshly made Italian ‘gelati’.

If this is not enough there will also be over 100 exhibitors covering everything Italian.
If you are looking to shop for the weekend or buy a holiday home, make a property investment or find a place in which to retire, Viva Italia has it all. There are villas, farmhouses, apartments and real estate to suit every budget, as well as professional advisers to guide and help prospective purchasers through the entire buying process. A number of regional tourist boards will be presenting their region’s specialities and suggesting intriguing holiday locations from the Italian lakes to the Island of Sardinia and from lush mountains to the many magnificent cities. Whether you’re looking for a holiday or a permanent home, Italy offers an unparalleled lifestyle.

Viva Italia is a lifestyle show, offering visitors truly Italian experiences and celebrating the myriad aspects that make Italy such an enchanting destination. It promises to be a celebration of all things Italian and with something on offer for everyone that aspires to the Italian way of life, why not come along and say Ciao to Italy at the Viva Italia Show, National Hall, Olympia, 22-24 September 2006.
