The Polish community in the UK has seen tremendous growth in the last decade and that has not gone unnoticed by the Supermarket which is committed to bringing ethnic communities closer to their culture and roots.

This spring, Asda is all set to entice Polish customer’s taste buds with a roll out of 35 new lines across 200 stores around UK. Asda, which has been nominated as the lowest price Supermarket by The Grocer for the last 16 years identifies the need for variety, quality, choice of brands and value in this segment; and is continually working towards improving and making the range relevant and appealing for the customer.

Asda has added to its range well known Polish brand Winiary with its extended range of sauces and gravy mixes including products such as Winiary dark and light gravy mixes and Winary express soup mixes: Borsch, Sour and Chickpea. That’s not all, Asda has also added 11 new lines to their confectionery and biscuits range to include Wedel chocolate bars, Wedel Delicje and Jutrzenka Jezyki.

Talking about the new additions an excited customer at Asda Wembley Joanna Golebiowski said: “The World food aisles usually have a lot of variety for Asians but for Polish food I would usually go to my local delicatessen. It’s great news if Asda is going to make our favourite brands and flavours available to us at our doorstep. Now I won’t have to travel far for my Polish shopping."

Helen Yates, Customer Planning Manager at Asda said: “We wanted to focus on creating a better range with more choice for our customers, whilst also reflecting the ‘Asda everyday low prices’ across all the products. By expanding the range we want customers to notice we have more choice to buy from so that they can get everything under one roof and at a great price, making Asda a destination shop for their full ethnic shop".

The managing director of Surya – one of the key suppliers of Polish delicacies to Asda – Harry Dulai explained: “As a company we understand the power of brands and traditions you grow up with and we pride ourselves in bringing these products to UK consumers, both for people who migrate to the UK and also UK consumers who are increasingly keen to experiment with new world flavours. When settling down in another country it is often the taste of home that people miss the most.”
