The frozen mini Jerk Chicken bites sold in packs of 20 are now selling in Tesco stores in London alongside cubes which contain four standard sized patties.
Cleone Foods, based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, has introduced the frozen portions into Tesco stores in Wembley, Brent and Southwark.
It hopes that the roll out will continue throughout the rest of the country.
Sold under the ‘Island Delight’ brand, chilled Jerk Chicken patties are sold as a chilled product throughout the UK and the frozen option which can be stored for up to a year is already available in Asda stores.
Wade Lyn, managing director and founder of Cleone Foods, believes that the cocktail sized Jerk Chicken mini’s based upon an authentic Caribbean recipe, is a choice with a difference for Christmas parties.
“We are keen that people from all different backgrounds get the chance to sample a taste of the Caribbean and what better way than trying something different at Christmas parties,” said Wade Lyn.
Cleone Foods is the largest producer of Caribbean style patties in the UK making more than 100,000 every week. Most of its patties are sold chilled but Cleone is expanding its range of frozen products.
The company employs 50 people in one of the most deprived parts of Birmingham.
