In less than two months time a glittering new awards ceremony will take place in Birmingham.
The first ever Midlands Curry Awards will be held on Sunday 1st November 2009 at St Johns Hotel, Solihull.
The gorgeous Priya Kaur Jones, newsreader at GMTV will be hosting the event alongside the lovely Steve Denyer, drive time presenter at Heart FM.
Mishbaur Rahman, Chairman of The Midlands Curry Awards says, “We are hugely honoured to have such fantastic broadcasting talent hosting our event. We know they will be warmly received by Midlanders at such an exciting event”
Priya is no stranger to the Midlands, having studied for her degree at Nottingham University. She then went on to work on local radio, the BBC’s Asian Network and then spent two years as a reporter on the BBC East Midlands Today news programme. She made her presenting debut on channel Five on Christmas Day 2005 and at the same time became the youngest ever national newsreader at the age of 25.
For the past two years, she has been at GMTV. Priya is now GMTV’s Newshour newsreader, and can currently be seen presenting the 6am & 6.30 am news every day.
Steve Denyer is the much loved radio presenter at Heart FM, winning huge audiences with his hugely popular drivetime show in the West Midlands.
He is a cheeky chappy who will probably bring lots of mischief to the proceedings!
The judging panel features a distinguished line-up of Birmingham’s media and business community. Those challenged with the tough task of selecting the best restaurant in ten Midland regions are Tommy Miah, Paul Fulford, Arun Bajaj, June Warner, Alan Tunicliffe, John Hackney and Arti Halai.
