Family shopping at Asda gets better for the South Asian Community

With the growing needs of the South Asian community in the UK, Asda has reaffirmed its commitment to its customers by announcing some positive changes to their existing South Asian range providing its customers authentic quality ingredients at unbeatable prices.

Asda, which has been nominated as the lowest price Supermarket by The Grocer for the last 16 years has been on this journey for years, consistently growing its ethnic range year on year with an unrivalled selection of products relevant for the South Asian Diaspora in the UK. The endeavour has been to ensure that the customer can shop all they want under one roof making Asda a one stop destination for their full ethnic shop.

A regular shopper at the Asda store in Hounslow Mrs Kalpana Sharma said: "I have been shopping at my local Asda for the last four years and I genuinely feel they understand our needs a lot better as compared to other supermarkets. Over the years the range has got better and now I can find a wide variety of Asian products at really good prices. Now I don’t have to shop around to pick different things at different stores. As a customer we feel cared for when a supermarket like Asda works hard to understand our needs."

Helen Yates, Customer Planning Manager for Asda’s Ethnic Ranges said: “In our Asian ranges we recognise that we need to bring better value to the customer all year round therefore we have introduced some permanent promotions and low prices on big brands.”

As a part of the range change, Asda has launched their exclusive new bay to make bulk buying easier for the customers, providing amazing mix and match 2 for £10 deals on select products like; Shahi 5kg rice, Laila flour (10kg), KTC Vegetable and Sunflower Oil (5ltr). While every other retailer carries such deals on individual items Asda gives you the opportunity to mix and match the products which are used on a daily basis in every Asian household.

Further changes to the South Asian range which have been announced this spring include a 20 varieties of TRS pulses across 150 Asda stores, spoiling the South Asian customer for choice and adding variety to their daily repertoire of dishes.

In addition, an exclusive range of frozen Jilani’s halal products has been launched in stores offering a wide variety of halal meat products like chicken and lamb kebabs, chicken dippers, pop chicken, chicken nuggets, chicken and lamb sausages and burgers. A spokesperson from Cofresh, the distributors of Jilani’s range said: “We are pleased to launch the Jilani’s exclusive range of products within Asda and we are confident that this range will offer an unrivalled selection of product variety and great quality”.

So, for your next big shop head to your nearest Asda for expansive range of South Asian products and some great offers.
