Café T official launch - Asia House in partnership with Cyrus Todiwala

An exciting new partnership between Asia House and award-winning chef Cyrus Todiwala MBE sees the creation of Café T: a vibrant café situated within Asia House’s new £6m centre for business and culture. The new café will see an official launch on 30th May 2006, after opening its doors for the very first time at the end of 2005.

Café T at Asia House is an ideal place for a morning coffee, a light lunch with wine, Asian beers or an exotic afternoon tea. Serving pan-Asian cuisine and with specialities changing regularly the menu includes North Indian and Goan, South East Asian, Chinese and Japanese-influenced dishes. The name Café T comes from the wide range of teas offered as well as being the first letter of Todiwala’s name and will serve his signature blend – a warming cup of Masala Spiced Chai.

Located at 63 New Cavendish Street, off Portland Place W1, Asia House is close to the shops of Marylebone High Street and Oxford Street. Asia House is the ‘must visit’ centre for pan-Asian culture and business in London and includes a museum-standard gallery with a changing programme of historical and contemporary exhibitions, Fine Rooms for talks, events and conferences and now a first class café, Café T.

Todiwala is well-known as the proprietor and executive chef of the critically acclaimed restaurant Café Spice Namaste (Prescot St, E1) now in its tenth year of service. He has received countless awards for the consistently high standards and creativity of his cuisine. He was voted Best Indian Chef in the UK, received a Culinary Honour of Merit Award from the World Chef Society. Café Spice Namasté is one of the only Indian Restaurants to win both the prestigious BIB Gourmand Award from the Michelin Guide and included in the nation’s top 30 restaurants in this year’s Curry Awards.

As a pioneer of Indian cuisine, Cyrus regularly appears on a number of key television and radio programmes, including; Masterchef, BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and Radio 4, most recently appearing in Sky One’s ‘The Greatest Dishes of the World’. This year saw the publication of his second cookbook ‘International Cuisine: India’.

Stefan Kosciuszko, Chief Executive of Asia House says:
“Cyrus brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this latest venture – Asia House is proud to have the support of this eminent chef in both Café T and as one of the preferred caterers for our busy calendar of events for the public and our members”.

Cyrus Todiwala MBE, Executive Chef says:
“It is exciting to be selected by Asia House to work together in making this new café the place to visit. The prestigious nature of Asia House events will be a natural setting for the innovative pan-Asian cuisine that I deliver”
