The Asian Style Awards have been created to acknowledge the growing South Asian fashion and beauty industry by rewarding successful individuals and companies working within the UK. Following a prestigious launch with Bollywood star Dino Morea and Bad Girl Nicola Stapleton in December, the team from the Asian Style Awards has been touring Asian ‘style hot spots’ around the country to encourage members of the public to vote for their favourite fashion and beauty gurus, who they believe are the real trend-setters amongst us and deserve recognition.
The first stage voting, which has been live since December closes on 15th May for the following eight categories, with regional shortlisted candidates being announced in early June.
• Best Boutique
• Best Salon
• Best Fashion Designer
• Best Make Up Artist
• Best Hairstylist
• Best Henna Artist
• Best Textile Fabric Retailer
• Greatest Contribution to Asian Style in the UK
Fatima Patel, Chief Executive for the ASA says of the Awards: “The Asian Style Awards are designed to recognise the immense talent that we have here in the UK, and this starts from the public that regularly use the shops, salons and stylists telling us who they think should be recognised and celebrated. The response from the public has been fantastic with over 43,000 votes already received from across the UK. These are the votes that really take us to the next stage of the awards and our regional shortlists.”
The Asian Style Awards tour bus has clocked up over 2,200 miles in the past six weeks, generating huge support for local businesses and creating quite a storm with its celebrity guests that have included Taz from Stereo Nation and Ghazal Asif from The Apprentice although the star of the show truly has been Basanti the Bear, the event mascot!
The Finals of the Asian Style Awards will take place at Alexandra Palace in London on 12th July; so if you want to see your local ‘Style Guru’ walk away with the ultimate accolade, then get voting now!
