A regular contributor to the ongoing racists fashion Industry debate. Miss Black Britain is considered a flag bearer for what can be achieved if Black models are given a chance instead of being shunned.

This years Italian Vogue Black Model Issue once again raised the issue that Black models are being ignored in the marketplace, with excuses from we couldn’t find any black models to we sent the invite to the casting but no one turned up used by Model agencies. Miss Black Britain aims to counter this by gaining agencies and Fashion house’s acknowledgement of black models and their right to be treated and accepted equally to that of their white colleagues.

The lack of positive young black role models in Britain is a major concern. With media overload of reports of ‘gang violence’ and ‘Knife and gun crime’ specifically relating to young black’s. It is important that positive press relating to young black people is created and pushed into the masses. Miss Black Britain has already started and aims to be a main vehicle to create role models and positive press within the media for young black role models so that other young people can aspire to be the best.

“Being Black and British is something that we should identify with and celebrate”
