“Our relationship with Pakistan is extremely important. We share historic ties and we are both members of the Commonwealth. One million UK citizens are of Pakistani origin.

“Pakistan is a crucial ally in our battle against international terrorism. Geographically it is situated in one of the most difficult parts of the world in which international terrorists are operating. Pakistan’s cooperation in our efforts in Afghanistan is crucial.
