Zoe Rahman Live!

Zoe Rahman – Sunday 14 October 2007 7.45pm
The Forge. The Zoe Rahman Trio appears in The Forge on Sunday 14 October. Described in The Observer as ‘a remarkable pianist by any standard’, Zoe Rahman has firmly established herself as one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene.

Her critically acclaimed debut album, The Cynic, was short-listed for the BBC Radio 3 jazz album of the year review in 2001 and she was subsequently nominated in the Rising Star category of the 2001 BBC Jazz Awards.
Her most recent album Melting Pot was nominated for the 2006 Nationwide Mercury Prize and was voted Jazz Album of the Year at the 2006 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. The only track that wasn’t written by her is the Bangali song Muchhe Jaoa Dinguli written by singer and composer Hemant Mukherjee. And she has added her reworkings of several other Mukherjee songs to her repertoire.
An exceptional composer and performer, Zoe performs with her own trio – Oli Hayhurst on bass and Gene Calderazzo on drums.
