Ghana, the first sub-Saharan African country to gain independence from British colonial rule, will be celebrating their 52nd year of Independence on the 6th March.
Over 2,000 Ghanaians, and friends of Ghana, will be heading towards Stratford Rex Music Arena on Saturday 7th March 2009; to one of the UK’s largest independence celebrations hosted by Rich Promotions, Akwaaba UK and the Young Ghanaians Network in conjunction with MoneyGram.
The annual celebration which has seen the likes of ITV ‘Bad Girls’ star Antonia Okonma, rapper extraordinaire Ms Dynamite and R&B songstress Keisha White, has continually attracted audiences from across the UK; proving to be one of the most anticipated events on the African Caribbean social calendar.
Richmond Agyekum, CEO Rich Promotions commented:
“This year we have a great line-up in store, including some of the most critically acclaimed urban artistes in the UK. Ghana’s independence dance has now become an event celebrated by many other nationalities as well as a platform to showcase the talents of UK musicians. What better place is there to host such an event than the heart of cultural diversity, Newham, which is a melting pot of diverse cultures.”
On the evening, UK artistes will also be joined by top Ghanaian musicians including Batman Samini and A.S.E.M.
