He is the latest urban – pop sensation to hit the music circuit and has been dubbed the UK version of the hugely successful rapper Sean Paul. He plans to bring an exciting sound and distinctive urban style to the music scene with the combination of his smooth, soulful vocal style, catchy pop rhythms and clean -cut urban looks. The 25 year old is the first person of Bengali descent to create so much excitement in the music industry.
Born and raised in East London, as a teenager, Mumzy immersed himself into the urban garage scene that gave rise to groundbreaking musicians like Dizzee Rascal. Determined to showcase his talent the young teenager would wait in endless queues outside underground grime clubs in London eager to battle with other MC’s to showcase his natural talent. He has faced obstacles from his peers but through sheer determination and self belief he has pushed through against all odds.
Through a fluke meeting with famous music producer Rishi Rich, Mumzy ended up signed to Tiffin Beats Record-the record label behind Rishi Rich productions. He’s been working on his album since 2009 and has also released two singles both of which topped the Asian charts. He has already been performing for sell out audiences in Dubai, Canada, Malaysia and India.
2010 is to be a definitive year for Mumzy Stranger. His eagerly anticipated single “fly with me” is set to be a sure fire hit with Fearne Cotton’s Radio 1 show already giving the song its first exclusive airplay last month. The single is to be released in September with the album following in autumn. Aside from his individual projects Mumzy is due to collaborate with former Eastenders star “Preeya Kalidas”.
