Zahoor’s musical masterpiece, Aik Alif is the second single from the soundtrack, which follows the success of Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s Kaala Doria.
Set to be a hit this season, Aik Alif, is a heart-warming and uplifting tune, both vocally and melodically. Zahoor’s breathtaking Sufi inspired tunes take listeners on a spiritual journey to rural Punjab, Pakistan, whilst his humble background can be heard in the haunting sounds of his folk music.
Commenting about Aik Alif, West is West’s producer, Leslee Udwin said: “It was a great honour to have Sain Zahoor on board for the film. His music and powerful presence so thrilled me to the core when I first encountered his talent, that I actually created a role for him in the film – I felt his sound was the ‘soul’ of the film".
Zahoor has established himself within the World Music scene and received a prestigious BBC World Music Award in 2006 – without an agent, manager or a record deal! His genius works include; Toomba, Allah Hu and the soundtrack to Shoaib Monsoor’s Khuda Kay Liye.
‘West is West’, which is set for release on 25th February 2011, reunites original cast members Om Puri, Linda Bassett, Jimi Mistry, Lesley Nicol and Emil Marwa from the box office smash ‘East is East’.
