“Crazy plays like a seductive roller-coaster ride that could give even Beyoncé a serious run for her money” – Blues and Soul
Uh Oooh she’s back….in fact the sensation of summer 2003 is proving that she truly did ‘never leave you’….she’s just been busy writing a HUGE album!
Lumidee’s debut single ‘Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)’ was a worldwide smash in 2003 reaching the #3 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, #2 in Britain, #1 in Germany and topping the pan-European chart – a rare feat for a debut single.
Now, hot on the heels of a US hit, the 23-year-old Puerto Rican, Spanish Harlem rapper and singer is returning to Britain with her long overdue follow-up single ‘Crazy’. Featuring US rapper and label mate Pitbull, ‘Crazy’ is a huge banger of a tune produced by Lenky, the creator of the Diwali rhythm. “This is an upbeat record and I knew Pitbull, with his energetic rapid-fire flow, would be able to keep up with the track and put something incredible on it,” Lumidee says.
In addition to Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, Shaggy, Jim Jones. N.O.R.E and Tony Sunshine endorse Lumidee’s sophomore album ‘Unexpected’ with guest appearances on a record that is unexpected in its maturity and diversity. “People will be surprised by what I am bringing to this project,” says Lumidee. “It incorporates so many flavors – rap, R&B, Caribbean music, all the sounds that influence me. ‘Unexpected’ also includes Lumidee’s take on Patrick Swayze’s Dirty Dancing hit ‘She’s Like The Wind’ which was released in America earlier this year and went platinum on digital download sales.
Lumidee is heading to Europe in July for the Galaxy Big Weekender in Ibiza (Galaxy has made ‘Crazy’ their Superhit across the network) and a series of performances at British summer roadshows. The video for ‘Crazy’, already huge on-line and on MTV in America, directed by Dale Resteghini, was filmed in Miami and is hitting UK TV channels in June.
