Linton Kwesi Johnson

Linton Kwesi Johnson

Famed worldwide as the first reggae poet, Linton Kwesi Johnson hosts a night of words and deeply grooving dub and reggae, built around the artists featured on LKJ Records.

Linton Kwesi Johnson, Dennis Bovell and the Dub Band, Jean Binta Breeze, Winston Francis and special guests

Johnson has been at the heart of the Jamaican/British experience since the 70s, when his landmark book/record Dread Beat and Blood made a huge impact. He is joined by Dennis Bovell – one of the great reggae and dub producers, as well as leading one of the great live bands, featuring special guest Shirley Thompson. Other guests include Jean Binta Breeze who is a striking and powerful performer – actress, playwright and a poet who explores personal, social and political issues with a rare sensibility and lyricism and Winston Francis, whose career stretches back to the 70s – a master of rock steady, evoking the unforgettable era of Jamaican music that bridges ska and reggae.
