Hot cricket, hot bands

Sugababes, Europe’s top selling girl band, will be this year’s musical star attractions at Twenty20 finals day.

Sugababes are the latest big name act to perform at the finale of cricket’s fastest growing domestic competition at Trent Bridge on August 12.

Last year Girls Aloud wowed the crowd at The Brit Oval, in 2004 it was Liberty X exciting Edgbaston and in Twenty20’s debut year Atomic Kitten lit up Trent Bridge as the interval entertainment.

Sugababes will be supported by Keedie, who released Jerusalem, the unofficial England cricket anthem, as a charity single last Christmas to raise funds to aid victims of the South Asia earthquake.

England and Wales Cricket Board Commercial Director John Perera said: “Twenty20 has a reputation for exciting cricket and top name bands. This year will be no exception as the ECB continues to develop the format which has captured the imagination of cricket followers around the world.”

Strongbow are the latest ECB commercial partners for Twenty20 – joining npower, Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank and Admiral.

Twenty20 group matches begin this evening (June 27), with the quarter-finals on July 24 and the finals day at Trent Bridge on August 12.
