Come September 07, 2006, Dubai will witness one of the biggest ever Asian concerts ever to be staged this side of the world. Desi music fans looking for a night that’s fun, fresh, vibrant and hot has only one place to be this summer – Blowout 2006. With a line-up consisting of the biggest names in the music industry – the Rishi Rich Project featuring Rishi Rich, Jay Sean,Juggy D and Veronica; Raghav, Atif Aslam and Mallika, get set for a night of unbridled indulgence and pure extravaganza. Blowout 2006 will take place at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre and is organized by M&M Entertainment and Mumbai Rouge the worlds leading Asian Events Organizers.
Rishi Rich has worked with artists as diverse as Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, Liberty X, Craig David, Mary J Blige, Westlife, Javine and UK rappers Fallacy and Estelle. He has co-produced no less than 10 Asian music albums before working on his first solo album ‘Simply Rich’, which debuted at No.1 in the Asian pop charts. Rishi was further able to fully showcase his creative talent for fusing urban music and Bhangra with the forming of the Rishi Rich Project and the release of their single Nachna Tere Naal.
The emergence of R&B singer Jay Sean redefined the UK’s urban music rulebook. As the UK’s first Asian crossover superstar, Jay Sean has already tasted chart success with the slick anthems Dance With You, Eyes on You and Stolen. But what makes Jay Sean such an exciting musical proposition is that as a UK born and bred artist his unique appeal is that he fuses Bhangra and R&B rhythms with a credible sensibility in order to produce a thoroughly authentic sound. His debut album ‘Me Against Myself’ topped all the charts worldwide.
Juggy D is one of the hottest upcoming Punjabi singers in the UK. Signed to 2Point9 records, home of leading Brit Asian producer Rishi Rich, and managed by the team responsible for the success of Craig David and Mis Teeq, Juggy D could well be the first Punjabi vocalist to make a dent in the UK mainstream.
Having only been in the industry for two years, Juggy has a list of credits to die for. After starting out guesting on Rishi Rich’s first album, Juggy has featured on tracks by Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, Craig David, Mary J Blige and Timbaland. He recently featured on the huge hit “Hum Tum (U and I)”, the first ever non-Bollywood track to feature in a major Bollywood movie. In addition to his music, Juggy and Jay Sean co-presents weekly The Rishi Rich Project radio show on London’s Kiss 100.
Veronica’s debut single ‘Show me love’ was serviced to the clubs in 2001 and quickly made a significant dent on the urban underground. As well as reaching pole position in almost every urban chart, it was also critically acclaimed everywhere from Smash Hits to Blues and Soul.
Veronica is a key asset to the 2Point9 Camp, and featured on the Bollywood soundtrack Hum Tum, ‘U & I’, along with Juggy D. Her solo album Theen also debuted at number one and has met with unprecedented success.
Over the past two years, the Rishi Rich Project have toured extensively, performing in North America, Europe, SE Asia, the Middle East and India, where they played to a television audience of 165 million at the prestigious MTV IMMES. Rishi’s music has also featured on a number of Bollywood film soundtracks, including 2003’s hit film ‘Boom’, 2004 hit ‘Hum Tum’ (for which he produced the title track) and last year’s box office smash ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum’.
In 2006, Rishi Rich releases the much anticipated ‘Rishi Rich Project’
album, showcasing a new wave of talent. He is also co-producing an album with Puerto Rican hit-makers the Luny Tunes’ a fusion of Bhangra and Reggaeton’ and working on new projects with Jay Sean, Juggy D and Veronica.
Raghav is another international sensation to make a mark in the urban scene, has come a long way from singing at local malls and at events like the Calgary Stampede Grandstand show. His passion for the arts took him on a personal journey, resulting in his debut album, Storyteller.
Recently, he won an award for Best Newcomer in the British Asian Music Industry and is also getting acknowledgment from the mainstream scene with his MOBO Award (recognizing music from Black Culture), for best collaboration on So Confused, with 2 Play. He is destined to bring South Asian talent to the forefront of mainstream culture with chartbusters like ‘Cant Get Enough’, ‘Lets Work It Out’ and ‘Angel Eyes’ from his debut album StoryTeller.
As the name Atif Aslam gets familiar it continues to enlighten, cogitate and provoke people and many young hearted fans that are devoted to him, to dwell on his renowned artistry and unorthodox presence. Atif through his down to earth personality and classy music attracts his fans as if he was a part of them, a part of what they call ?their own?. The song Aadat grew underground rapidly and made his name across the country in big numbers, not only on musical websites but also on major radio stations. The song was first released in 2003 and did wonders not only nationally but also internationally and hit the charts at No. 1 on all major music channels. He followed this up with Woh Lamhe, one of the biggest chartbusters of all time.
Mallika is a hot new talent, with a magical voice and is touted to be the next international superstar by sources in the industry. The gorgeous singer is all set to perform tracks from her yet to be released album, which promises to hit the country by storm
