NINA’S HEAVENLY DELIGHTS, the feature film debut of PRATIBHA PARMAR, a vibrant and highly original comedy that is a spicy combination of family, food and surprises will sizzle onto UK cinema screens on September 29th, 2006.

Nina Shah (Shelley Conn) is a feisty young woman who left home under a cloud. She returns to the family owned Indian restaurant following the death of her father. Her return brings many surprises – discovering her father’s gambling debts, a confrontation with a jilted ex-fiancée, and meeting Lisa (Laura Fraser) a charismatic young woman who now owns half the restaurant – all blended with romance and laughter.

With courage and enormous vitality Nina battles to win back the family business and fulfil her father’s secret wishes of winning the ‘Best of the West’ curry competition… and finds the divine taste of love in this spicy, mouth-watering, feel-good comedy.

Starring exciting new British talent SHELLEY CONN (Possession, Down to Earth) and LAURA FRASER (A Knight’s Tale, Titus, Sixteen Years of Alcohol) and established UK actors ART MALIK (True Lies, The Living Daylights, Passage to India) and KULVINDER GHIR (Bend it Like Beckham, Goodness Gracious Me, Tomorrow La Scala!) The film also features ATTA YAQUB (Ae Fond Kiss), RAJI JAMES (East is East) and RONNY JHUTTI (the upcoming Don’t Stop Dreaming).

Award winning UK based music and documentary filmmaker PRATIBHA PARMAR was inspired by her own life experiences when telling Nina’s story exploring the pull between family duty and personal desire.
The film is written by Scottish born ANDREA GIBB, her writing credits include Afterlife which won a variety of awards and starred Lindsay Duncan and Kevin McKidd. Her next film was the critically acclaimed and award winning drama Dear Frankie which starred Gerard Butler and Emily Mortimer.

NINA’S HEAVENLY DELIGHTS will be released by Verve Pictures on September 29th 2006.
