Continuing with its promise to bring the best of Bollywood to the International audiences, Adlabs Films Ltd brings you Jaan-e-Mann, a product from the stable of Bollywood premiere film company Nadiadwala Grandsons. The directorial debut of editor turned director Shirish Kunder, Jaan-e-Mann has enterprising producer Sajid Nadiadwala at the helm, and a solid trio of Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta forming an acclaimed and formidable star cast.
Set in the heart of cosmopolitan city New York, the film is in every sense an international production, much like a Broadway musical but infused with the emblematic traits of a romantic musical unleashed by Indian cinema that is rapt with allure, emotions and of course a surplus sprinkling of romance.
The music is composed by music maestro Anu Malik and the critically acclaimed Gulzar pens the lyrics, who have delivered some of this year’s most hummable scores. Anu Malik has created a melody that truly befits the musical genre of the film and has raised the bar as he delivers a gem and Gulzar comes up with his trademark ‘conversational’ lyrics rather than a conventional prose that is set to provoke. With an ensemble of singing sensations including Sonu Nigam, Sukhwinder, Sadhana Sargam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Adnan Sami, Kunal Ganjawala, Krishna, the album features a concoction of western and Indian beats and rhythms that will strike a chord with cineastes across the shores.
“Jaan-e-Mann is one of the big ticket films for this season, primarily because of its star cast and the story premise. This season Adlabs brings four high calibre films to the UK audiences – Jaan-e-Mann, Umrao Jaan, Baabul and Guru. We are committed to bringing quality films to the UK audiences in the future too.” says Pranab Kapadia UK Head for Adlabs.
Jaan-e-Mann tells the story of three college students: an immature, long haired wannabe star Suhaan Kapoor (Salman Khan) who has everything in life; Agastya Rao (Akshay Kumar), the cute and shy nerd who everybody loves, a bespectacled man who believes in the power of love over good looks and star status; and Piya Goyal (Preity Zinta) the college belle who has everything – beauty, brains, wealth – but is vulnerable and lonely. Suhaan and Agastya have nothing in common except for one thing – their love for Piya – but neither convey their feelings for Piya.
Ten years pass – Suhaan now lives in his dream world having achieved everything but love; Agastya is an astrounaut and has dedicated everything to his work and making money, but remains a bachelor and Piya still lives alone with no sight of love in life.
Then one sunny afternoon the three meet accidently and rekindle their emotions…
So, who will Piya choose – Suhaan or Agastya?
