‘Dear Mandela’ screening & panel discussion with Amnesty International + War on Want

Destroyed homes, threats at gunpoint and high-court action, this battle by three young people to stand up for their rights is a testimony to people power.
Our panel discussion will discuss the latest updates from the campaign seen in the film.

Threatened with mass eviction from their shantytowns, ‘Dear Mandela’ is the inspiring story of three young activists who are furious at the harsh treatment of their slum communities in Durban, South Africa. They form Abahlali baseMjondolo, the shack-dwellers movement, and rise up against the government to fight for their constitutional rights.
