Shobhaa De is one of India’s bestselling authors. She is the author of thirteen books all of which have topped bestseller lists in India, where she has revolutionised commercial women’s fiction. She is the undisputed Jackie Collins of Bollywood and has redefined the mass market bestseller. She was born in Maharashtra in 1948 and was educated in Delhi and Bombay. She graduated from St Xavier’s College, Bombay, with a degree in psychology and began a career in journalism in 1970. She founded and edited three popular magazines – Stardust, Society and Celebrity. She is presently a freelance writer and columnist for several newspapers and magazines including The Times of India, The Statesman and The Sunday Observer. She is married with six children and lives in Bombay. Bollywood Nights is her first novel to be published in the UK.
