Strictly Come Poetry From Thea-Poets

Thea-Poets explore the humour, tragedy and bliss of relationships. And many others things they stumble across along the way. These diverse women bring powerful poetry to the theatre. They let you in on their brand new show: their stories and secrets about relationships, life and love. Journey with Charlotte Ansell, Cath Drake, Janett Plummer, Patricia Foster and Sifundo as they vibrate to the soundtracks of their lives.

The women of Thea-Poets from Australia to Jamaica and the UK have performed their poetry, and live literature across the country and internationally, moving audiences with their searing humour and honesty, distilling a brand of rich multicultural identities and experiences.

The show was devised and developed by the poets lead by the inspirational director and writer Roger Robinson.

Quotes from previous shows
“Wow! Totally gutsy women, you rock! ” Audience comments, SPIT-LIT literature festival performance, 2007

“A moving show and fantastically varied; showing flawed people and situations without being brutal nor self-indulgent” Audience comments from The Space Theatre, performance 2008

“A truly remarkable evening and a brilliant experience for an audience member. The sweet, the sad, the funny, the emotional poetry all wrapped up in one package. As a live event it has charm and character as it moves in and out of the performative and makes you feel like you are right there, in the moment, with every word uttered.”
Mari Rettedal, The Space Theatre, 2008
