"Saragarhi: The Forgotten Battle" Book Launch

A rare opportunity to discover the hidden history of Indians who fought for Great Britain on the frontier and during the World Wars in the iconic memorial room at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.

Royal Military Academy Sandhurst will host the official launch of the new military history "Saragarhi: The Forgotten Battle" on Wednesday 20th November.

The battle took place on the North West Frontier in 1897, and saw 21 Sikh soldiers fight to the last in defending a small outpost against enemy tribesmen. The battle is an iconic one, and cemented the reputation of the Sikhs as brave and loyal fighters. The new book narrates the battle and its significance today using primary sources and never-before-scene images.

Guests are invited to the iconic Indian Army Memorial Room – where many historic elements of British Indian history are preserved – to hear from the book author Jay Singh-Sohal about the battle and will have the opportunity to receive signed first edition copies of the book.

A special screening of the new film "Sikhs At Sandhurst" will give insight into the rich tradition of Indians who contributed on the frontier and during the World Wars.

There will also be an opportunity to speak to serving soldiers and officers.
