RSPB to raise awareness at Hungama 2010

RSPB Scotland has announced that it will be coming to Scotland’s newest festival this July. The charity speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. They will be setting up a stall giving visitors a fantastic opportunity to learn about endangered birds, as well as local wildlife. Henna tattoos will also be on offer at the stall.

There has been a link between the RSPB and Asia recently as they have been working alongside conservation groups in India, Pakistan and Nepal over the last few years over concerns about dramatic population drops in three types of vulture. They have discovered that the declines have been up to a staggering 99.9% in some cases, just since the 1990s.
Speaking about the vulture, RSPB said: “Their decline has been quicker than that of the Dodo – now is our chance to prevent them from suffering the same fate. This shocking decline is because of a veterinary drug, diclofenac, which is toxic to vultures that feed on the corpse of recently treated cattle.”
Amit Arora, Business Development Director for the Oceanic Group said: “Even though Hungama is going to be a ‘crazy fun’ day we are delighted that we are able to offer an educational platform also. As Scotland is famous for its wild birds including the golden eagle we are thrilled to be working with a charity which is able to help out both domestically and internationally.”
Along with the RSPB stall being present there will be other stalls and booths selling everything from authentic Asian food and drinks, to Jewellery, clothes and mehndi artists that available all day. The event kicks off at 1pm and is on until 8pm on July 4th. It’s a crazy fun day out for all the family so don’t miss out.
