The Royal Air Force was the sponsor of the prestigious ‘Most Diverse Company’ category for this year’s British Asian Hafta Awards.
Sponsorship of the Hafta’s Diversity category was in keeping with the RAF’s long standing commitment as an inclusive organisation, committed to providing career opportunities to people from Britain’s many diverse communities.
Leicester-based Clifton Packaging owned by brothers Khalid and Zahid won this years ‘Most Diverse Company’ category.
The British Asian Hafta Awards, which are in their third year, took place on October 30th, 2009 at New Bingley Hall, Birmingham. The awards provided a great opportunity for the crème of the British Asian Business community to celebrate and reward the achievements of the past year.
Sergeant Shiv Chand of the RAF’s Diversity Recruitment Team in the West Midlands said: “The RAF is very proud to have supported the Hafta Awards. It was a great opportunity for the RAF to continue our support for worthy projects in our local communities. The RAF itself prides itself on having made great strides in actively working to encourage more diversity in the RAF. Sponsoring the Diversity category is also a big thank you to the contributions made by serving British Asian members of the RAF.”
The Awards show lived up to its promise glitz and glamour with a ‘Hollywood meets Bollywood’ theme crowning of Mr and Mrs British Asian. Other awards that were up for grabs included the Male and Female Best Employee, Best Employer, Young Achiever and the Pioneer Award.
The British Asian Haftas were launched by Women of Cultures, which aims to empower women from ethnic minority groups.
