Punch in partnership with International Dance Festival Birmingham (IDFB) invites you to join them for 2012’s hottest competitive dance event, Desi Moves. The best dancers and groups will go head to head at one of Birmingham’s most prominent venues as part of The Cultural Olympiad and the build-up to London 2012 Olympic
and Paralympic Games.
Desi Moves is part of Dancing for the Games, which is inspired by London 2012 and part of
the Cultural Olympiad in the West Midlands. It has been funded by Legacy Trust UK, which is
creating a lasting impact from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the UK, as well as Arts Council England and
Advantage West Midlands.
The best six groups/individuals will present a fusion dance act with bhangra, bollywood, giddha, streetdance and bashment styles to celebrity judges. The show includes an impromptu
audience dance choreographed and led by a famous dancer. Also featuring on the night will be a renowned dance act.
The winner(s) will claim the title of Best Desi Mover(s), a prize of £1000, a trophy and a fantastic opportunity to perform at The Dance Show, part of the Clothes Show Live in December
2012 at the NEC Birmingham.
This exhilarating dance competition produced by Punch in partnership with International Dance
Festival Birmingham comes to Birmingham’s Town Hall.
