Norwegian-Pakistani Deeyah joins international superstars in global fight to end violence against women.

The global nonprofit organisation The Pixel Project publishes its 2012 list of top 10 Music Artistes campaigning for the cause to end violence against women. The list includes iInternational superstar and passionate, life-long women’s rights campaigner, Annie Lennox who is renowned for her charity work, campaigning and advocacy on women’s rights. The list also includes Norwegian-Pakistani/Afghan music producer and activist Deeyah, known for her outspoken support of women’s rights and campaigning against honour killings and honour based violence. Senegalese Hip Hop artiste, Sister Fa, is a strong and vocal advocate for the end to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), having experienced it herself. Multiple Grammy Award winner Tori Amos is also a rape survivor. In June 1994, Amos co-founded RAINN, The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, a toll-free help line in the US connecting callers with their local rape crisis center.
