British Black Music Month Continues With Talking Films & Celebrating South Africa!

An intimate gathering for an inter-generational audience to discuss issues pulled from screening excerpts of films, including ‘Amandla!’, ‘Song Of Freedom’, and ‘Bamako’; and to listen to tracks from ‘Long Road To Freedom’, highlighting South African music

Talking Films & Celebrating South Africa! is an opportunity to look at and talk about the role of films in education, and activism, particularly in South Africa.

Q&As with invited special guests follow the screening of excepts from ‘Amandla! A Revolution In 4 Part Harmony’, BBM/BMC and BTWSC films, and African-American actor, singer and political activist Paul Robeson’s films, plus the IMF-interogatory film ‘Bamako’.

There will also be a celebration of South Africa through displays, BBM Sound System’s ‘SA Mix’, and give away prizes at this inter-generational event. Food on sale. The event is delivered association with BTWSC.

it takes place on Friday July 15 2011, 6-9.30pm at Mission Dine Club Centre (MDC), Fry Road, Harlesden, London NW10 4BZ (by John Buck House & back of Newfield Primary School. Willesden Junction or Dollis Hill. Buses 18, 206, 226, 260, 266, 487). The following day at the same place, there will be the Black Music Records & African Crafts Fair, which includes a fundraiser for the MDC charity, which is facing demolition of its centre.
