BASS (British Art and Street Sounds) Festival 2009

BASS (British Art and Street Sounds) Festival 2009

BASS Festival, the UK’s only month-long celebration of Black Music and Art, returns this June for a celebration of African music and culture.

BASS (British Arts and Street Sounds) Festival will take place for the fourth consecutive year and see over 25 events take place in Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Manchester, Edinburgh and London.

Highlights this year include an exhibit of controversial Nigerian artist Lemi Ghariokwu’s work in ‘Art of the Album Cover’, and a music line-up that features Afrobeat legend Tony Allen, MOBO-winning Sway and hotly-tipped acts Mama Feel Good and Louis Den Beat Cypher. The festival will also play host to new commissions, live performances, art exhibitions, dance and theatre performances, film screenings, and master classes.

Nearly all of the events are FREE. For more information on the festival, including details of events and tickets, visit www.bassfestival.co.uk.
