The Sunshine Foundation celebrates 5 years fundraising on Saturday 25th February

” This year will make 5 years and counting for fundraising success by The Sunshine Foundation for Children with Special Needs, local Ealing Borough charity.

Holding their fifth annual fundraising evening on Saturday 25th February to support a Special Needs School in Grenada and Mencap, Ealing for the 2nd year running, the charity have moved the ‘Fundraising Variety Show’ event to the newly refurbished Greenford Hall to accommodate for a larger crowd of up to 500 supporters
‘We have used smaller venues such as The Priory in Acton, and last year at Acton High School in the past, but we have been full to capacity each time.’ Bridget, founder and chair proclaims. ‘Each year the support is greater and so we have had to find a new venue to attract and accommodate a larger crowd. Word of mouth is so powerful, the feedback has been amazing, people love our events and we thank everyone for their support. The pressure is on to keep the standards high this year’
The charity is currently supported by renowned storage company, Big Yellow and in the past has enjoyed aid by major supermarket chain, Sainsbury’s.
This year, the event hosted by Geoff Schumann of Platinum Radio (87.5FM), is due to take place on Saturday 25th February 2012 where members of the community are invited to the newly refurbished Greenford Hall, Ruislip Road, Greenford, UB6 9QN from 7.00pm – 10.30pm.
Other entertainment includes local acts, Ealing Street Dance, comedian Tony Hendricks, singer Kyra, kora player griot Mosi Conde, Mobo Award winner Fola, Oneness – spoken word artist plus many more.
Since 2004 The Sunshine Foundation have relied on the local community to donate items of clothing, books, wheelchairs, walking frames, computers, toys, medical supplies, educational materials which has been sent to the St. Andrew’s School for Special Education in Grenada. Last year, donations and efforts enabled to school to refurbish their inadequate bathroom area, whilst Mencap enjoyed support for their Independent Travel Scheme which was due to cease in absence of such support.
