Over £100,000 Raised for Charity at the Hottest Night of the Year

Last night (12.10.06) was the hottest night of the year in Glasgow – at least it was in the city’s Hilton Hotel – for, once again, it was time for the glitterati to bring out the bling for the glitziest event in Scotland’s social calendar and, once again, they didn’t disappoint!

The Hottest Night of the Year – a unique celebration of all that’s best in the worlds of showbiz, sport, politics and business – raised over £100,000 for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and Help the Aged, India.

Billed this year as ‘Bollywood Bling – an Epic Tale of Love, Honour, Greed and Curry’, the Hottest Night of the Year is the legendary annual celebration of all that’s best in the worlds of showbiz, sport, politics and business.

Hottest Night host, Charan Gill MBE, said: ‘”Last night saw an incredible 600 of all the real movers and shakers of Scotland come together to raise fantastic amounts of money for a variety of worthy causes. And the Bollywood Bling theme really made this year the biggest and best Hottest Night of the Year yet!”

Amongst the numerous celebrities in attendance were: comedienne Shazia Miraz; lingerie queen Michelle Mone, of MJM International; John Boyle, OBE of Hamilton Portfolio; Jim McColl, OBE of Clyde Blowers and John McGuire, of the Phoenix Group.

During the course of the evening, all guests had a chance to bid for a range of valuable, exclusive prizes in the famous charity auction. Amongst the top prizes this year were: 4 premium class return flights to Canada; two business class tickets to Dubai; two VIP tickets to the LA Fashion Awards and an original painting by Dawn Zhu, the drummer with this year’s hottest band El Presidente.
