Christmas comes early for Save the Children

A hairy Yak has proved the Christmas gift of choice at Save the Children. Following the very successful launch of Save the Children’s Christmas Wish List, the most popular gifts are yaks, Christmas shoppers just can’t get enough of them!

Chris Coe, Save the Children’s Product Development Director says ‘We are delighted by the way that supporters have responded so enthusiastically to Save the Children’s Wish List gifts, at such an early point in the Christmas season. Whilst we are talking to our country team in Tibet, to reassess the need for yaks, we owe it to our customers to temporarily put up the ‘sold out’ sign. However there are still many more gifts such as bicycles and chickens that eager shoppers can buy in time for Christmas that will be given directly to children and their families supported by Save the Children.’

Families across Tibet and China will have their lives transformed when they receive their Yaks bought as ‘virtual’ gifts this Christmas. With only four weeks till Christmas Save the Children’s Wish List can help ease the stress of Christmas shopping and improve the lives of children around the world. There are over 24 great gifts to chose from.

To place an order for a gift for Christmas visit Last orders for Christmas delivery is the 18th December.

How can a ‘virtual’ gift sell out? At Save the Children, your wish is our pledge and if you want to buy a yak then than that is how your money will be spent. Once all the yaks our country teams need have been bought then we will let you know and will offer you an alternative. If you are absolutely committed to buying a yak (for someone hairy!) then you can; Save the Children will use the money to help the most vulnerable children where the need is greatest.
