Catch a Vibe wins Best International Blog 2010 Award

Leading online lifestyle magazine Catch a Vibe has been voted Best International Blog at the Black Weblog Awards (BWAs) 2010, an event that recognises the best Black bloggers around the world.
Nominated alongside other leading blogs, Catch a Vibe won both the popular and judges votes for the Best International Blog. Category. It is the first time the online magazine enters the competition.

Founder and Editor in Chief, Alice Gbelia, declared: “We are enormously proud to have won such an important award. At Catch a Vibe we have the privilege to be able to write about subjects we are passionate about, so to be recognised for that, and by such a wonderful organisation, is a fantastic honour. It is particularly gratifying to be one of the few blogs on the list to have won both the popular and judges votes. With such a great team of writers, we have tremendous confidence in Catch a Vibe as both a magazine and a brand and we hope to use this success as a launch pad for even bigger and brighter things.”

The Black Weblog Awards were founded in 2005 to give recognition to Afro-American bloggers and those of the African diaspora, which were overlooked by other Internet awards events. The BWAs have now grown into an international showcase with participants from over 90 countries.

Catch a Vibe is an alternative, accessible, fresh and authoritative look at black culture. Offering events listings, city guides and in-depth coverage of the black arts scene, the magazine constantly breaks new grounds with its cutting-edge approach to features, news and interviews.

www.catchavibe.co.uk was launched in November 2007 and has continued to grow from strength to strength. On top of winning the Best International Blog Award, Catch a Vibe was also recognised as a London Top 10 Blog by influential website last minute.com in November 2009 and is regularly featured in their Top 50 Lifestyle blogs. In June 2010, Catch a Vibe was voted as one of the most useful London blogs by popular city guide 3 Guys on a London Bus. Catch a Vibe is also featured as a Top London blog on Metromarks, the world’s first city-based bookmarking site.
