SUNDAY 2nd AUGUST 2009
This year the organisers of the East London Mela, East London Festival Limted, are very proud to announce their 6th Mela at Barking Park on Sunday 2nd August.

Following on from their successful track record of Mela organising and event management not only in Barking but also in other towns also, the organisers are continuing to develop, improve and introduce new and innovative ideas to the event every year, so come, visit and experience the mela magic yourself in Barking this year. Also this year Asian National DAB BBC Radio station The BBC Asian Network, famous Asian Television network Zee TV and telecommunications giant O2 have teamed up to ensure the mela is the best it s ever been.

This year’s Mela boasts a varied and huge line up of musical talents targeting the whole community. The phenomenal line up of not only national but also international acclaimed artists will take to the huge music stage on 2nd August 09. So many artists to be confirmed will perform live.

Just like last year their will also be the Arts and Community Stage sponsored by community radio station Nu Sound Radio, this will showcase local artist, community groups and local organisations.

Barking Park will be transformed into a colossal theme park as in previous years, with attractions and sites to accommodate families, individuals both young and old, irrespective of ethnic background, religion or colour. The aim of the event is to bring together the communities of the local area and to offer a fantastic fun filled family day out.

There will also be a fun fair, huge kiddie’s corner with inflatables, arena acts, displays by the Fire Brigade, with Asian food, clothing and Afro-Carribean food stands, Polish dancing to name a few and an array of other community stands throughout the park.
