STAR PLUS continues its reign as undisputed leader in Hindi entertainment in India

Images Video Audio
STAR PLUS, the leading Indian entertainment channel, has fortified its stronghold over competition in India, making it the undisputed leader in the Hindi General Entertainment space since 2000. Audience ratings for the first half of 2008 demonstrate that STAR PLUS has widened the lead it holds over its closest rivals. In the face of tough competition and channel fragmentation, STAR PLUS has continued to win viewers with fresh content that resonates with audiences across the country.
According to the latest available TAM data for Week 29, STAR PLUS delivered 348 GRPs, leading second place Zee TV by 47% and delivering higher ratings than its two closest competitors Zee and Sony put together.

With the top 10 slots across all cable and satellite channels belonging to STAR PLUS, the channel now leads across all weekday prime time slots from 19:00 to 23:29 with every show at each slot delivering better than the competition. STAR PLUS also leads its competition in weekend prime viewing as well as in its revamped weekday afternoon daypart.
With soaps as the main driver, STAR PLUS has continued to draw audiences with innovative content and fresh storylines. Bidaai, a program that was launched late last year, is today the No. 1 drama in the Hindi GE space, delivering an average TVR of 5.7 in week 29.
A number of new soap dramas (Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat and Hamari Devrani) launched on STAR PLUS in the past six months have also been garnering audiences with captivating stories and excellent production values. In Week 29, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil delivered a 4.6 TVR, growing the slot by 70% since its launch. It now ranks as the No. 2 fiction show in Hindi Speaking markets.
Also in the revamped afternoon timeslot, the recently launched Hamari Devraani, delivered a 3.2 TVR, growing the slot by 78% since it launched.
In the UK, all STAR Channels - Star Plus, Star One, Star Gold and Star News are retailed by Sky. Star Plus and Star News are also available on Virgin Media.
