Jas Rao lands his own show on BBC Asian Network

New BBC Asian Network radio signing Jas Rao will begin hosting his own show beginning this Friday. Jas will take hold of the reigns every Friday from Nihal who continues to present the Phone-In Show from 9am-12pm Monday to Thursday.
After four years in commercial radio, Jas joined Asian Network's new look DJ line up in August, where he started deputising for Nihal on a Friday and now the station gives him his own Friday show (9am-12pm).

While the show will continue to be based on phone ins from listeners, every Friday Jas will produce the best in interactive radio looking ahead to the weekend , including "disgracebook" where listeners can share their take on their terrible week with Jas and the show. The new Friday format will also take a fresh look towards the weekend with a keen focus on sport and entertainment.

Jas said of his new Friday slot,

"I'm itching to get behind the mic on Friday morning, it's going to be a great way to end the week and look ahead to the weekend with a mix of sport, entertainment and music. Bring on Friday's! "

Jas's signing is the latest in a series of contemporary British, Asian musical appointments on Asian Network which are part of the stations ongoing repositioning as a young British Asian music centred station. These include Panjabi Hit Squad who play the best in UK club bhangra (every Saturday 5-8pm), Bhangra House remix DJ Sonny Ji and Asian Network Chart presenter Noreen.
