Business Link London and Colourful launch radio programme for entrepreneurs

Images Video Audio
August 2007 - London, UK - Business Link London, the gateway to business support across the Capital, has teamed up with Colourful to provide a series of radio programmes to assist budding entrepreneurs.
The series, one of the first of its kind, will discuss the challenges that aspiring and existing entrepreneurs face through a combination of advice, live question and answer sessions and the latest business news and tips. There will also be special programmes dedicated to getting women and today’s youth to consider being their own boss and how they can make the most of the support and advice that is available to them.

Afsana Shukur, head of diversity and equality at Business Link London commented: “We’ve identified a real need for people in the African Caribbean community to learn more about the support that is available to business owners and people thinking of starting their own business. These shows will be a fantastic opportunity to de-mystify some of the key elements of creating a thriving business and to hear from like-minded business experts and successful entrepreneurs who have made their business dreams come true.”

The series will include six weekly shows as follows:

Programme 1 - August 23rd 2007, 8.00pm: Women starting a business

Programme 2 – August 30th 2007, 8.00pm: Traditional financing

Programme 3 – September 6th 2007, 8.00pm: Non-traditional financing Programme 4 – September 13th 2007, 8.00pm: Starting a business via franchising

Programme 5 – September 20th 2007, 8.00pm: Expanding your business

Programme 6 – September 27th 2007, 8.00pm: Youth into business

The ‘In Business’ series will be hosted by Vernon Barrett, an expert on business and entrepreneurship and presenter of Colourful Radio’s Caribbean Connection show. Speaking on the series, Vernon commented: “There is a huge entrepreneurial spirit in London’s African Caribbean community but many of our listeners aren’t sure where to start when it comes to setting up their own business. We’re working with Business Link London to provide the facts and advice that people need to make their business a success as well as de-bunking some of the myths around business support and finance. The show also has an interactive element where listeners will get the chance to ‘ask the experts’ about their business challenges.”
