Kumbh Mela 2010-The Countdown begins for the commencement of the observance

Early next year, Haridwar will come alive. 14 days remaining until the astonishing Kumbh Mela gets underway from January 14, 2010
The year 2010 is all geared up to by stand Kumbh Mela in one of the sacred cities of the country, Haridwar. The bed of Ganga at Haridwar is now playing host to one of the largest spiritual congregations. Saints, sadhus and seers from across the country will come together to take part in the Kumbh Mela ( http://www.kumbhmela.chardham-pilgrimage-tour.com/ ).

Millions of devotees are expected to turn up at Hardwar for the Kumbh Mela starting from January 14, 2010 and ending on April 28. So with this large congregation of people expected during the Maha Kumbh Mela, the government is all geared up and has imposed special arrangements for the Kumbh 2010. The entire Maha Kumbh area has been divided into 31 sectors and one hospital is being set up in each of the sector. Each sector would be supervised by three doctors. Apart from these 31 police stations and 41 police chowkies are also established in the Mela area for maintenance of law and order. For control of crime in the Mela, 5 police lines and PAC lines are established. 36 Fire stations are established to control any incident of fire.
”A special team of 52 policemen from Kanpur is projected to join duty at Haridwar on February 1 and remain there till the end of the fair”, says the Mela officer.

A Central Control Room (CCR) with all modern communication system is established around the clock for monitoring of crowd inflow to avoid any crowd pressure.

Kumbh Mela is organized at four major places in India namely, Allahabad, Ujjain, Nasik and Haridwar, with each place witnessing the ceremony after 12 years. Every season, huge number of Naga Sadhus, priests and a massive quantity of devotees visit the rite to take a holy dip in the divine water of Ganga as they believe it eliminates all the evil and past sins from an individual's life.
