Free OCN Level 2 Event Planning Course For London's BMEs

London's unemployed BMEs, especially from Brent and Haringey, can gain knowledge, contacts and a qualification after just one month
The course is free for unemployed BMEs between the ages of 19 and 64, especially residents of Brent and Haringey, but subject to a refundable deposit of £25. The deposit is returned when participants submit assignment.

In order to qualify for the accredited certificate applicants must complete a minimum of 30 learning hours, and submit a written assignment at the end of the course.

The course will be accredited by OCN. Participants will be expected to write weekly reflective diaries, and submit a written assignment in order to qualify for certificate. Team work is necessary, and prior knowledge of, or involvement in organising events is useful but not essential.

Duration: The course takes place two days a week, (Wednesdays & Thursdays, 11am-5pm) over a 4 week period.

There are 7 in class sessions, and opportunities for one to one sessions which are optional.

Course Focus:
The course will focus on how to plan a successful event, whether a music, film or book launch, fashion show, wedding, networking evening, debate, organisational meeting such as an AGM, considering all the factors that go into planning a successful event.

This includes research, event co-ordination, budget, health and safety, risk assessment, contingency, marketing, writing a press release, and post event evaluation.

Course includes class simulation of designing, planning, and putting on an event, and the option of working on a real live event.
